Re: What other car would you sell your car for

It would take a very special car. But I used to have a 1968 1/2 Mustang GT Cobra Jet "R" code Wimbleton White coupe. I restored it to as original, the original Holley 735 cfm was mucho expensive. Very fast with the stock 4.30 Traction-Loc rear and top loader 4 speed. But it just looked too plain and simple. I could be talked into a trade for a fastback version of that in a nice color. Otherwise, maybe a new ZR-1 or of course a Red '67 coupe with the 400 HP, 427.

Re: What other car would you sell your car for

I wish I had my old 50 Chevy coupe back. I put a lot of work into it back in the late 50's installing first a 55 V8 (1956), then a 56 Vette engine, and finally a 58 Fuelie. I could never get a good clutch linkage hook up then, but Tom Parsons showed me how he did his and I'd love to have another go at it.

I once had the dream car for many; a 32 Ford 5 window coupe with a full house Merc in it with 4-97's, Zepher gears, and a Columbia rear end. It was painted a beautiful Mandarin Red and had White rolled and pleated interior and a white top insert. It was very fast in it's day. I bought it as an investment only as I have always been a Chevy man. The builder needed the money. I re-sold it about a month or so later (at a substantial profit)to a young Restaurant owner who flipped into a field a week later while racing. Totaled the car and broke a few bones, but the check cleared, so I wasn't too sorry.

Our 67 L79 Coupe is not for sale...but...thinking about back in the day, my wife and I have had a number of cars over the years that I wish we still had...at the top of the list is the 1966 Shelby GT350 that we bought new from S&C Ford in San Francisco for $3,750 in March 1967. Damn hindsight!!! Or the '56 Healy with a 292 Chevy...loved that right rear plug...one ratchet click at a time to remove...or the '63 Unimog Crew Cab we bought when we were into wilderness camping with the kids. Machines...can't live without them.

I'd buy two if theoretically my car was worth enough after restoring it (numbers matching 59 290 HP FI):

a 67 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII and a 69 chevelle for my wife.
I'd get them unrestored so I could work on them
I'd want to restore them to stock. I like the NCRS approach to things.

Don't know that I'd ever get rid of the '55, but here are the other cars I'd like to have:

            427 Cobra, replica would do... 1956 T Bird, Triumph TR6. '63 split window coupe and a '66 Mustang GT350

If I could afford it. A "True AA code" BacK on Red, 1967 Chevelle SS 396 L-78 396/375HP EG suffix or EX suffix. One of 612 buildt. Hard to find a Real one w/ that color combo. New cars Ford GT40 Love the look of em.

If I'm giving up my beloved 64, it would be a 67 big block with side pipes. But a Cobra might be a nice replacement, too.

Too many cars, not enough time!

I don't think I could part with my 60. It would have to be ridiculous money ! If I buy another toy it would be a toss between a 3 window 37 ford, slammed, 22's and a modern donk !! or a Corvette 67 B/B with side pipes so I could get beaten by my mates Cobra. God that thing is scary fast ! But selling my 60 would be heart braking. Stewy

I would truely have to sell something to make room for it - with four cars in a two car garage - there is truely no more room. The two daily drivers are outside.

69 is my absolute favorite year Corvette. Right now I'd only trade for one that the wiper door worked correctly . But as to the original post, while I'd like to have a C6, who wouldn't, if its a choice of one or the other - classic vs. late model, I have to go with the classic.

I can understand the urge to move on tho. I have a long laundry list of classic cars that I'd like to experience in my lifetime, but I can't just keep adding car after car due to limited funds and storage space. Eventually I have to say, I've had that one long enough. Mabe in 25 years, I'll trade for a c-6.

I have a '69 that I bought new (low mi; untouched, basically been in storage it's whole life), and a '62 FI (I,m 3rd owner, have hist. since day 1, car is all orig. including paint, drive train,interior,etc.)-that is showing it's age mechanically as well as cosmetically.
I don't think I could ever "sell" these cars, but damn!-I've loved '63-'67 coupes since my first Corvette (One owner,Red/Red 32K mi. 340 Cpe. in 1967), and later, in 1975, a '65 FI Cpe. (Window sticker, leather, disc brake delete) Any way, if it were up to me, I would "exchange" either or both of my current cars for the right 63-67 coupe.

I've owned my 1960 for 30 years and have do not have any children so this car is truly my "child". I can not even consider life without her. She will be with me until the end and then hopefully auctioned off for a charity of my choice with a starting price.
I've always loved Jaguars and owned an XJ6 along with my '60, but if I could have another sportscar with my classic corvette it would and always be a 1964 Jaguar XK-E Roadster. What a beautiful ride!

Please allow me to add 6-cylinder Jaguar E-Type coupe to my list as well. (I think the convertible isn't nearly as cool looking as the E-type coupe)

For me, I'd trade either of my cars ('67 L79 Coupe; '68 base motor automatic, air, two tops, etc.) for a 1957 Desoto Adventurer or a '53-'54 "Twin-H" power Hudson Club Coupe in the same condition. Any Takers?

Hhmmnn - tough to answer. Let's see - as a guy who always dug all musclecars (previously owned at different times before my 71 LT-1 (a 66gto auto, 66 gto with 396 4spd, 65 tripower 4spd, 65 tripower 4 spd, 65 gto L78 4spd 513 gears, 66SS396), I guess I would have to go with a 67 Ram Air gto 4spd. That would be it. But wait, how about a 70 340 swinger, 4sp,391's. Maybe instead a 69 or 70 Hemi Roadrunner 4spd. Naw - think I will go with a 68 Dart hemi or a 69 440-six pack(the lift off hood street machine-quicker that the hemi on the street).
                                Let me see, instead maybe a 70 camaro ss L78 or a Chevelle SS Ls6. Or a Motion 427 Nova or 70 Stage 2 Buick Grand sport or 70 Olds W-30. Any of the sixties CObra's(66 427 preferable over 289) or Cobrajet Mustangs. The list goes on and circling back to Vettes-62 327/340, 66 427/425, 69 427/435, 69 L88, 71Ls6, 96 Grand Sport, the C5 Z's, C6 Z's, ZR1, Viper, Ford GT.
You get the idea I like acceleration . God help me if I ever win Lotto-I will be out of control.
