Power brake hose clamps, what color green?

Can I just use some of my left over green self-etching primer (similar to bird cage green) for the hose clamps on my power brake tube that runs from the booster to the intake manifold?

Or do I have to buy a special can of paint for $5 to get my 1 finish point back because my clamps are black.

I thought the PB hose clamps were supposed to be black? I never seem to be able to remember which is which as far as fuel line clamps and PB hose clamps. (some sort of a mental block, I suppose)
The fuel line clamps on my 66 are green. (different size than the clamp for PB)

      Hi Chris
      Save your "Bird Cage Green"
Maybe someone can jump in with a better description, as the original Green you need was darker, more of an "Olive Drab" shade.

That's kind of what I remembered as well, just wanted to get the groups' opinion on it.

I think the TIM/JG says they should be, so I got dinged in judging for it.

I think I'd do a little research before I put green clamps on the power brake booster hose.

Agreed, and this post is my version of research.

Since the AIM doesn't really talk much about finish of parts, I'm posting here.

Plus, there is the "well, that's what the book says" rebuke from the judges when I try and present a counter-argument. I figure for the hose clamps I can easily change it back and forth, and frankly once I'm done judging, I won't care about the color.

I'm going for Duntov, and I need as few "little issues" like this as possible.

I'm for leaving them alone, aren't they the same as the PCV clamps?

Nope - the power brake vacuum hose is the only usage on the whole car for the #3829056 clamp - the PCV hose used #3829058.

Yup, and the 3829056 is black while the 3829058 is ugly green. The size is different for different size hose OD.
