That's correct. The 67 model year was the first for several new "safety Items", including the rounded edges on the horn cap.
This new design cap was part of "new products' for 67 and it would have been included on the very first 67 that rolled out of the St Louis plant.
The 67 horn cap was a different part number than the one used for 65 and 66.

The 67 model was the beginning of the most aggressive safety campaign of the 60's for the automotive industry. It wasn't limited to Corvette, or even General Motors.

How many new safety items can you think of for 67?

I certainly hope judges are not deduction points for 67 horn cap flag black/white patterns that don't agree with some other 67 horn cap that's on a car a few VIN #'s away. Again, there's no such thing as an incorrect black/white pattern for 67. Either would be correct for the entire 67 model year.

Chris, I would leave it alone. I too have seen both types on original cars.

Good. I wouldn't change it either.

Now that that's settled, on to another question. I see in your picture what appears to be the real, honest to goodness original ignition switch nut?
Are the sides dull or brushed but there's a thin chrome edge facing the rear?
If so, could we get a good closeup shot of that? This would be the correct design for 66 and 67.

I like the correct brown/grey instrument cluster housing attaching screws too. Not black.

Breakaway steering wheel on the collapsible column , dual master cyl. , non glare instrument panel chrome. anti-lift engine mnts. , day-night rear view mirror. seat belt retainers that work. four ways standard, something w/ coupe headliner above visors to allow for smooth transition of your head to the windshield if you weren't wearing seat belts.
All I can think of right now.

Here's a couple shots of my March built '67 (140XX).
I have no reason to believe it's ever been changed (never-restored, un-wrecked, with 46,613 miles).
For Michael,.....a pic of the ignition switch nut.
Sorry for the heavy dust. This is it as-found, ...after being pulled out of the barn.

                      Darn you Michael,

Here is my original 67 ignition switch:

As you will note, the Oil Gage has an ovelay and the cluster screws are painted black. When I redid the cluster, the oil gage rivets were rust and so were the the cluster screws, as I thought.
