Re: Show Me Your Garage
One thing I did with my garage that I don't see to offen is I carpetted the floor. I went to Home Depot and got enough indoor/outdoor carpet (dark grey) for $150. My garage is 720 sq ft (24 X 30) . It cleans easy and a pleasure to work on. Another thing I got was a vacuum that hangs on the wall with a 30 ft. hose. Good luck with your shop. Bill Lehmann- Top

I love the pay phone. I hope you have enough nickels, dimes, quarters or whatever to keep it fed!

Re: Show Me Your Garage
Stewy...it's the locking type made by Racedeck. I had it down for 5 years now and never had a problem. It sounds a little "hollow" when you walk on it, but you get used to it. I think if I do another garage, I will go with the epoxy as it looks great when it shines and seems to hold up well. I'm into clean, shiny stuff!!. THanks

I had mine professionally done (www.homeprofloors.com) with the "Classic Floor" system. I let the slab cure for 4 months, and they steel shot-blasted it one day (2600 sq. ft.), poured the first coat the second day, and poured the tinted second coat the next day. Haven't touched it since.
The key to adhesion (in addition to the surface prep) is a dry slab, with no moisture migration from the underlying soil. I laid a 10-mil poly moisture barrier down first, then covered that with 5/8"-thick 4' x 8' sheets of high-density closed-cell foam with heavy foil on both sides, then poured the slab over that; great insulation (floor is warm and dry all the time), and zero moisture migration.
Temperature extremes here run from below zero in the winter to mid-90's (*F) in the summer, so it's heated and air-conditioned; have R-26 in the walls and R-58 in the ceiling (and the insulated slab), and two custom-made 18' x 8' steel/foam/steel insulated sectional doors with tubular seals between the sections. Insulation is EVERYTHING, and you can only do it right when you build it. My "retirement office" is out here too, and it's comfy year-round.

Re: Show Me Your Garage
Here are a few pictures of my garage which I built 7 years ago. It is approx 26 by 37 feet and has a vaulted ceiling at the end where the lift is. It is super insulated and is heated by a hanging electric heater.
A great facility for working on my Corvettes.
I just completed my 57 250 HP FI, Powerglide car yesterday, time to go cruising.- Top
