    Show Me Your Garage

I have an opportunity to get this correct once and once only. I have a empty garage square and ready for a fit out. Can you please send me photos of your beloved garage/shed where we spend all our life working on our toys.
I want a good work bench area because I am always cutting, banging, screwing, glueing and fixing things. Can you tell me what makes a great shed/ garage. Photos would be awesome. So if your proud of your shed send in a photo !!! Stewy

Here's my "clean" garage with the epoxy floor for cars and clean parts storage. See how many 60's-70's Corvette parts on in this picture? lol.

Now here's the "dirty" garage for real work. Notice the painted floor the old fashion way. lolol.

Stephen , love the grunge !! This is the problem I have, my cars will share the same space as the work shop. It's a three car garage, 2 spots for my toys and one spot for workshop. I always have this problem of making something that requires heaps of mess but I don't won't the cars to cop the brunt of my saw dust or metal filings. If I partition it off I could loose valuable space. And the over spray paint on the floor, I suppose I could always use a large piece of cardboard ( I can get lazy sometimes) How do you find the epoxy floor. They look really clean but what happens when you loose a screw, can you find it on the fleck style epoxy floor. Stewy

Thanks for the compliments. You can always temporarily partition off the 3rd bay with some plastic when work gets serious. Sometimes it's hard to find screws. I usually don't work in there much besides polishing.

Has anyone tried the plastic clip in lego style floor. I have seen lots of it advertised but never seen a photo of it in a garage. You can make a pretty good pattern out of it, but not sure if the weight of the car will damage it over time. It has good thermal efficiency with it being plastic it should be warmer than concrete and cramic tiles to work on.

Stewy, text from a couple of sites including GE on light planning including a spreadsheet (couldn't upload an Excel spreadsheet - send me an e-mail gchesnut@charter.net & will send it to you) I used to calculate my shop lights along with my shop layout plan. Gary....

I had my epoxy floor done nine years ago, but didn't have any "fleck" put in it (on purpose); just had the second coat tinted the color I wanted. Still looks like it was poured yesterday - it's indestructible (industrial-grade solvent-based epoxy, not water-based).

Here's the garage at my new house in Florida. Unfortunately, I'm not living there yet, but ONE day I'll get there. These are construction pix. The house/garage is now done.

It's 36W x 28D. Has 3 bays. One bay is cathedral-ed for a 4 post lift. I have a Lift Master opener on that door. The lift is installed, but these pix don't show it. The floor has also been painted a light gray epoxy.

I'll have room for 4 cars, and a fair amount of extra room on the end for my workbenches and tool boxes.

Chuck, nice looking. If I may, as a former police officer, I see two thinks I don't like.
1, window, be sure to put some type of covering on it.
2,change door to no glass. You don't want prying eyes looking in, Make sure after the door is changed to a non window, you have a dead bolt with at least a 7/8 throw. My advise, things are getting worse here in Fl. Bill.

Chuck that's good space, looks like a spot for some good working. I noticed your panel lift door goes up with the roof line, is there enough room for the 4 poster to get up. I just pulled mine down and installed a roller door as to free the ceiling up for a lift and wont interfere with the lighting.
Wow I never realized crime is that bad in the States, I guess we are lucky we don't have that problem yet. Stewy

John you mentioned the epoxy floor. I acid etched my floor and epoxied the surface. When I re applied it for the second coat it didn't adhere. So I had to diamond grind the whole surface off and start all over again. Cost was get this 5 1/2k I was shattered. I reapplied it this time using a polyurethane with a none yellowing agent in it. Doesn't have the thickness as the epoxy but poly sticks poo to blankets it won't lift. How many coats did you apply.
