Well I'm no chick, and the 67 rally wheels and whitewalls look better to me. I'm growing weary of the knockoff/bolt-on look. That much sidewall needs to be broken up a bit and the whitewall/white paint looks great.

Kirk, I think the choice comes down to personal preference, they both look good to me. One thing I don't like about you picture is the rake on the car. Either the suspension is not settled or you have a repro spring and the ride height is too high..

Look at Rick's pics to see correct ride heights, I think this makes a car regardless of tire choice.

I agree, but let's not forget the mentality of those ordering the cars. Fancy, expensive cars in the 1950's had white wall tires, and the older set could relate to that. I remeber this trend continued through the 1960's. However, the California influence of "de-chroming" was high in the mid sixties, and the Corvette design reflected this. I'll bet Corky Carroll does'nt even know what a white wall is.

I think that white walls on a Corvette are like vinyl tops on a muscle car. They were ordered because it was someone's idea that it fit the class of car and showed that the car was not some stripped down version. Times and attitudes have changed and I don't particularly like these features but that's the way the car came. These are options that I do not put back on restored cars unless they're going to be shown. Although I will admit that I am trying to convince myself to love white wall tires on my 64.

I sure would love to see the results of this survey by age . Im 64 and I can remember loving wws on all cars . I remember as a teenager standing to pee and installing rubber ww inserts on tires , of course they didnt last very long because of the leaking beads. Now that Im restoring my 67 , I guess not to be a sissy I'll install redlines with bolt-ons .

It depends on your vintage. Blackwalls didn't become popular until around the mid sixty's with the muscle cars. Before that, especially in the 40's and 50's, whitewalls were the popular look. Just look at any old car magazines pics of hotrods, customs and any gathering of cars and you will see mostly whitewalls except on the racetrack.

If NCRS Flight judging is not an issue, I vote for what looks best on your car. Since your car is white, go with the white wall tires. Either wheels will work for me. The white walls will complement your car's paint and add a classic touch. Blackwalls are for today's new cars. Red lines are best looking on red cars.

My dad had white walls on his brand new '66 big block and NO ONE thought the car was driven by girls. Of course, I took a lot of young girls for rides in it! -Clark
