Re: Let's Vote - 67 WW Bias Rally vs Bolt-On Redline Radial

The white wall photo reminds me of my many trips to Chevy dealerships in Iowa back in 1967. That's nostalgia, and it feels good.

One the other hand, my white 63 has a black top and black tires.

Perhaps the dealers were the ones ordering the white tops and white-sidewall tires...

No worries here guys. I wouldn't have bought them if I didn't think I would like them and they fit the car. The bottom line is my car is a fluff car (some call them Drs. Wives cars) that was never modified or severely abused and as a result has almost all of its original working parts including functioning AC! My sense with the car is that it was probably purchased by someone a bit older who loved the idea of corvette but wanted all the creature comforts including optional shoulder belts. Having said all that, my sense is that original bias ply whitewalls just fit with car. Heck, if the bias tires are as hard to handle as some people state, I may just put the radials back on as DRIVING my vette is what is important to me. I just like having fun, even if it is at my own expense - so fire away!!!

Could be. You have to remember it was an option, and if you were young and wanted a vette additional money was something you might not have. Hence it was probably older people (parents) or rich people (older) that would have ordered the option. I agree with the nostalgia point, just never knew there was such a visceral response to whitewalls for so many people!

Redlines with the white paint, nice contrast.

Yep Redlines with the bolt on's looks like a performance car rather than a cruiser. The red lines and the white duco looks slick.

With the recent posts expressing a vote for bolt-ons with redlines, I wonder if the voters liked the "look" of the bolt-ons versus the standard Rallye wheel. Or did they like Bolt-on wheel because of the increased value. The reason I ask this question is because I prefer the "look" of the car with a Rallye wheel over a Bolt-on wheel irrespective of the value of the wheel. I bought my car with repo Western bolt-on wheels but did not care for the look and switched back to original supplied Rallye wheels because that is what I liked for a "look".

Nope I think the bolt on wheels look way expensive and performance orientated, looks like that's how it would of come from the factory. The rally's looks cheaper but still a awesome look. It looks like a hung jury on this. Red line tires are nice and probably not as over done as the white walls. It's your car and you have to live with looking at it way more than all of us so it's your choice. I love rallies but the bolt ons with the red lines do it for me !!

My thought is that the Bolt-ons were more classy / expensive so they should have the whitewalls, while the Redline tires go on the Ralleys as a performance look.

The Goodwood Green coupe I had came with Ralleys and Whitewalls. I drove it that way, but would take it to shows with a set of Ralleys and Redlines for "that performance look".

Either way, it is still a '67.
My vote for the best ever Corvette style made.
Used to have a T-shirt that said: "Sure they made Corvette's after 1967, but who the Hell cares!"

                          Kirk,

I'm with Rick, my vote is for redline tires with the Ralley wheels. The redline tires add a little pizzaz to a white car.

The whitewalls seem to look too chickish (Oh I forgot, your car is an automatic too, so that might be OK)

I think my vote was greatly influenced by the redline radials on my Marina Blue 67 with a white top (Geez, red, white and blue, an all American)

Only kidding of course, have fun,

Like I said earlier, I guess I'll have to get my spring frock out to drive my car with the whitewalls!!!!

I'm committed to the whitewalls as I bought a set of bias plys this winter to mount on the original rallys. I really, really like the rallys on the car. They just seem to fit and for me the whitewalls snazze it up a bit. I'm a bit more tentative about the ride on the bias whitewalls versus my redline radials which were great. That's why I'm not selling them!

I have found it very interesting to read all the different types of responses - I was going for aesthetics and originality with the whitewalls only to find out a little too late they are for sissies! Oh well, live and learn.
