    Chuck,

Please look and see what the rear bracket looks like. Can you take a pic of it please?

    Thanks,

    JR

      Chuck,

Does your tire tub have the shorter lip or similar to later design?

              Chuck,

Thanks for the pics. That tub (fiberglass) is definately a 63 only tub and cover.

Below are some pics of a 63 rear hanger. Original brackets were NOT plated as this one is. Only the bolt was plated originally. It was plated by accident.

I was pretty sure it was the original. I would have had no reason to change it.

I've seen that style of hanger. Mine has the more "standard" type, but it's a late car.

Chuck, Thank you for the pictures. I got a call from The Coach yesterday. Kay and I will see yourself, Pat with Coach and the Hoser Moran in FL.
                  Happy New Year.

My tub "V" brackets are identical to Chuck's, but then why wouldn't they be as our cars practically held hands down the assembly line; mine on Tuesday morning of the 9th, and his probably on Thursday the 11th (19,147 vs. 19,496). The one thing we can have some solace in is that our cars were not Monday or Friday cars.

Not knowing any better, I squirted mine with some black undercoating paint back in 1976 and have yet to correct it. As I recall, I blacked out the exhaust system I had on the car at that time as well. That was common practice during the "rusty" 70's. I had a 72 Nova SS that practically disappeared before my eyes back then too.

Coach stopped by our house in Maryland last Saturday. Pat and I went out to dinner with him and Sue. He was headin' back to Florida Monday, Dec. 29. He's hauling some stuff down for me.

A little bird told me that he was picking up MANY dozen GENUINE Maryland Crab Cakes to take back to Florida. Rumor has it that we just might get to consume some or all of those crab cakes before the Kissimmee meet.

I'll drag Jim and Claire Moran down to Jack's place and we'll do some serious eating.

Happy New Year to both you and Kay.

Could someone post a pic or two of the early style, and point out the differences?

This is from an April 20th car. I just finished restoring the Tub. There was lots of fiberglass missing when I started.

                            Chuck,

Here is a picture of the early style lid/support for my 63 next to the later style support. The undercoating has to be removed so it looks bad but it's actually in nice condition. I have not decided if I am going to remove the rivets and detach the support.

What's the best way to remove this undercoating, it looks like it's been there for awhile..

Happy new year to you and Pat..

                              Thanks, Tim.

Interesting. That's just one of those little things I never noticed. 63's certainly are strange beasts, early, mid, late, etc.

I've had good luck using kerosene/mineral spirits along with a plastic scraper and steel wool to remove tar and undercoating.

Happy New Year to you and Rose.
