My 63-the LWC has NOS single crimp brake hoses on it. A judge asked me why I had them on the car because they were unsafe. I agree that they are unsafe but am leaving them on anyhow because they are original. I see mentioned there should not be a deduct for double crimp hoses. I don't know if this is a judging norm or not. John

I started to comment on this question very early, but then thought better of it...No insult intended, Paul, but I've been "sand-bagged" by enough academic midyear trivia questions.

When the questioner asks, when DID the "double crimp" on brake hoses become standard, immediately the question is begged...Is this some kind of implied "mid-year" speak that all midyear people understand? What the **** is a "double-crimp"?...Does that mean the "crimp" is twice as wide as before?...Maybe, it's crimped twice on the same area, only twice as hard the second time?

I assumed, as you did, Gregster, that the question related to the double flaring method used on brake lines forever, and discussed in Chassis Service Manuals since before midyears. Sometimes, it's better to let old hounds snooze on the porch, Gregster.

I agree, Chuck! I've never heard of "double crimp" brakes hoses. I believe there is a FMVSS that covers brake hoses. Anybody know the number? Most of them are online as I've researched them before.

Also, hose ends are usually "swaged" not "crimped".

Given the no part number change history, above, sumpin' ain't right, but, then, everyone knows that Chuck and I are morons.

Late service replacement "double crimp" brake hose

I agree with Howard... I do not think the evidence supports use of "double crimp" brake hoses in '67.

Attached is a photo of the object in question, installed on my '67 driver approx. 15 years ago. I removed a leaky "single crimp" now buried in a pile of junk parts on a back shelf.

Hope this helps clarify things a bit.
