    Stewart;
How did you get a last name spelling for a first name? (just kidding).

Well, 10k may be a little extreme for a T.F 60, but I can tell you this much; I am going to state in my will that my 63 is to be sold to an NCRS member for 10k less than to an outsider. How's that for sincerity?

It's a great idea and I would think that it would provide a real comfort zone. I also have parts I would love to see go to someone who needs them - rather then someone looking to turn a buck.

Ridge, on the rare occasion when I sell a part on eBay, that's exactly what I do: offer a no-questions-asked refund. My reputation is more important to me than any car part. Sure, there may be an occasional problem, but compared to what? eBay? I, for one, have wasted a lot of money on eBay, and there was nothing I could do about it.

How do we go about getting a classifieds section set up? I think it's a good idea, even for those who may not like the idea. They may see that the old part they've had in the closet is now worth something and decide to make it available. And it would be a chance to comparison price for those who insist on buying on eBay.

AGREED! As our membership increases and expands it'd be nice to have our own "in house" parts store. I'd like to see all of us helping each other out with those real GM (do I dare use the term N.O.S.?) restoration parts everyone needs to get their car to judging.

Hear, hear, brother. We need this!

I have been a member of the Corvette Forum for over 8 years and have bought and sold numerous Corvette parts there. I have ALWAYS shipped the things that I was selling BEFORE I received payment. I have always been paid and have never had a problem with buying or selling Corvette parts to other Corvette enthusiasts (for what it is worth).

I agree. I don't see it in this thread but probably the BIGGEST COMPLANT with the Driveline is everyone gets it at different times. That means when most of us DO get it that hard to find part that is advertised is LONG GONE. Basicly we ALL GET SNIPED with the present system. If a "For Sale/Wanted Cars or Parts" section was added to our new site this would help to resolve that problem. Yes, someone else will probably see it before you but at least you have more control over that. (Just stay at your computer 24/7, haha). This as anything else involves volunteers. We all know how hard it can be to get someone to give up their time soooooo...........now is the time to pony up. Anyone willing to help with this who do we need to contact?? There will be MANY issues to get it started but one that has been mentioned is that EVERYTHING sold requires a "7 day no questions asked guarentee". I TOTALLY AGREE!! If we can't trust our fellow NCRS members then what is the world coming too? I'm sure there are plenty of good ideas floating around that we can set up a good system that will be beneficial to our members AND the NCRS which should be one and the same. This in NO WAY means any disrespect or complaints towards the ones running this board. I THINK YOU ARE DOING A FANTASTIC JOB AND LOVE THE NEW FORMAT!!

                    Shooter

P.S. I also sell stuff on Ebay and very well could have sold some parts to some MCRS members. If given a chance to sell here or there, that's a no brainer. As most here have said we would rather a NCRS member receive the part instead of some dealer that reslls it at a higher price. It might even bring some pride to know you supplied a part to help someone get certifieds or get Top Flighted.

Since I don't know how to get a cars/parts for sale/wanted section started, I just sent the administrator (admin@ncrs.org) an e-mail asking him to please read this thread and consider adding such a section. Perhaps if you did the same....?

Re: Don't anyone hold their collective breaths on this one

I have (as well as others on the tech board) touted the need to add this aspect to the web for just the reasons cited in these prior posts.

It either fell on deaf ears or it was explained off by challenging members to bring this matter up through the ranks to the leadership of our group. This was done and again it went nowhere.

I broached that if money, server capacity or monitoring were the issues, I would gladly add a dollar or two to my membership dues for this "member only" benefit. Again no action.

Other Corvette boards offer this option to users, why not us?

I fully understand the effort it took to upgrade the site and I appreciate it very much, so why not keep the ball rolling?

                        1) Ads would be placed for a period of one month starting from the moment the ad is comitted. When the clock counts down to zero, the ad(s) would automatically be pushed off the edge requiring the soliciter to re-input the ad. This way the site would not get overloaded with either dated or neglected ads.

                        2) It would be a "Members Only Site" to keep the potential of casual buyers out. What better way to increase the membership dues.

                        3) Just like the Driveline, limit ads to only so many words to stop the potential for the "forever ads" that run on and on and on.

                        3) Break out parts by either date ranges or part descriptions.
It would be necessary for the subscriber to start each listing with either a date range or very simplistic part description.
I would rather be looking down through a varied list of "pumps" for example as opposed to getting terminal eye strain re-reading ads in the current format with highlighter in hand.

Of course I'm over simplifying, but you get my drift.

I'm sure the biggest beef will be the technical labor resourses involved to bring somthing like this to life.

So I guess I'll just keep browsing through my dated "Driveline" and hope that the parts I see of interest heven't been sold the week prior.

Read the Board of Director's minutes in the Restorer that is in the mail. There are some changes coming, not necessarily to the TDB, but they will benefit the members.

I agree that we need a Corvettes/parts for sale & want to buy section. I ask for general section since the new format started. Got no where. I saw nothing in the RESTORER about adding a new section. I agree that some people do not get there mag. till long after others do. This would make it fair for everyone.

Still waiting for my RESTORER today (May 14, 4:37 pm). I know the mail man (lady) likes to read my wife's National Enquirer before delivering it, but I don't think the're into cars.
