Perhaps we can start by adding a PDF vesion of the Driveline 1 week after the paper ones get mailed. Protect the link so that only members can download...

      A BRILLIANT IDEA!

Post the PDF of the Driveline on the NCRS site in a password protected area the same day the hardcopy is mailed, or even one day after to allow for a day's delivery time that would be involved before the first memeber start getting their hardcopies in the mailbox. A week would work too, but I would think the first ones start to arrive well before a week after shipment.

This hot item was discussed over two years ago on the old technical discussion board and since then it has gone nowhere. Seems like it needs to be studied to death.

I don't see why this is a "long term project, where many issues need to be addressed". Rob Musquiteir said back at that time he could set up a demo electronic driveline in a couple days. So what is the BFD? Just do it.

I have appointed several folks to be involved in again reviewing the Driveline to be published electronically or an instant buy/sell version similar to e-bay. This is a long-range project where many issues are required to be addressed. I expect a report from this team at our March and August board meetings. If you have comments please contact Mark Lincoln, Region I Representative or Arland Dower, Region VIII Representative.

This is an absolute "no brainer" It's definitely the next logical step in the development of this site and would be a very welcome addition and judging from the reaction of those posting to this thread, a very welcome and needed feature! Let's get rolling!

Re: Parts and cars for sale/wanted section

I've watched the Corvette Forum evolve the past few years in their Cars and Parts For Sale sections. For the longest the policy was first one who said 'Dibs' or 'I'm interested' was the one who had the first right of refusal and to pass on to the next interested party if it isn't what they wanted. EBay links were allowed. Now it is no longer that way. The seller reserves the right to sell to anyone he/she pleases regardless of who jumped first. And the Corvette Forum moderators banned any links to auction sites such as those on eBay. All this may not go well with some members who have been looking for some rare parts for years. I strongly support the suggestion of having an on-line type Driveline. The Driveline, despite its improvements in deliveries, still does not reach everyone at the same time giving some readers a jump on others. As stated in a previous post...I prefer to sell Corvette parts to people in the NCRS so that I know that some unscrupulous non-Corvette buyer won't turn around and gig the heck out of a Corvette owner. The majority of people in the NCRS are serious about their Corvettes and parts. However, I can see why there is a reluctance to start a Cars and Parts For Sale section in the NCRS Web site. It takes working through the potential pitfalls before it can become reality.

By the way, I need water pump number.......

I think that it's great that with the new board we now have one foot squarely in the 21st century.
I say in for a penny in for a pound, let's swing that other leg over the fence and really show 'em what we can do with our Commodore Vic-20's.

Re: Parts and cars for sale/wanted section

this board only needs a "WANTED" section that way if you have a part to sell that is wanted you have a NCRS buyer. if no one wants your part that you have for sale then go Ebay. they say it is unfair to have a "for sale" section here because only a small % of the membership uses the Internet.

                            Hi,

I've got a Sinclair ZX80, 2 ZX81's, 2 ZX Spectrums, a Tandy Shark TRS Model 1 and 3 and a Commodore 64 still on the shelf. One day I want to put them on display...

                            greetings,

I for one am in agreement to bring this Parts and Cars to the forum. Again, remember members only. I always have to leave this site and go over to the Corvette Forum to look for parts and cars. I would personally prefer this cars and parts section not be available for visitors. Make the wheeler dealer types join. They are only into making a quick buck. IMHO. Thanks DG
