Roy, I wish my 59 & 62 was a "53-55" so I could use this stuff. It's really great that you share this kind of info.

OK Rich for you only a little Trivia

(It's the generator "TAG" ) left is a 55 , now if your standing at the right fender looking at the TAG it faces you, all left mounted generators do!
Right pic. If your standing at the left fender the TAG again faces you, all right mounted generators do.

Now these are correct generators// the left 55 is correct .
The pic on the right is a early-mid 58 to 61 generator in a 57 Corvette because the tag is located in the wrong area.

Sorry, Roy. I'm confused by this. It appears to me that both of the generators in the pictures shown here are "left mounted." Regardless, are you saying that the '55 tag is supposed to be read right-side up from the passenger side of the car--i.e., the '55 tag is upside down when seen from the drivers side fender? Are you also saying that the '55 tag is further over on the curve of the generator (toward the engine) such that you have to kind of lean over the drivers side fender to read it? Roy, you're a veritable fountain of information. Thank you very much.

One more question I forgot to ask Roy. I note that the upper washer bag bracket on the left picture of the '55 is cadmium or silver painted. Is this correct, or is it supposed to be black-out? Thanks again.

Same for the generator mounted on the R/ fender side, you read it from the L/side fender //That's why they are further over the curve. That's why the pic. of the 57 has the wrong year Generator but may have the correct repro tag and #'s
This is just a (little) simple way to tell if sone one used the Correct Generator year for the year of the Corvette, for get the tag numbers.

There are other simple thing to look at on other parts with out checking #'s. Like the VR I posted////////
