are you saying that the '55 tag is supposed to be read right-side up from the passenger side of the car--i.e., the '55 tag is upside down when seen from the drivers side fender? Are you also saying that the '55 tag is further over on the curve of the generator (toward the engine) such that you have to kind of lean over the drivers side fender to read it? =THAT" IT!you got it!!
Same for the generator mounted on the R/ fender side, you read it from the L/side fender //That's why they are further over the curve. That's why the pic. of the 57 has the wrong year Generator but may have the correct repro tag and #'s
This is just a (little) simple way to tell if sone one used the Correct Generator year for the year of the Corvette, for get the tag numbers.
There are other simple thing to look at on other parts with out checking #'s. Like the VR I posted////////
