    VR 53-56 it's Trivia again I guess?

I keep seeing buyers using a VR having the correct #'S but having the wrong design VR. 53 to early 56 design VR cover had the cover screws going through the cover as seen here, NOT having the screws on the side .That VR cover being held by two side screws is a replacement second design. Is this mentioned in the JM???
I bring this up to make an other example of why it's important to know what a original part looks like and NOT to go by a part number.
Left pic is a 12V 55 early 56 Right is a 53-54 6V NOS being sold on e-bay getting no bids.

Roy, I didn't see that one on EBAY, but have seen others similar that are the correct type, but bad date codes (outside of production dates). Did this one have a date code on it?

Yup, that's the one I have in my 54 and got dinged for it. But it is a "service replacement" and was a small deduction. I'm still looking for the real deal, though.

Thanks for the great posts, Roy. Keep em coming.

On your 54 how are the condensers, left is the correct design for the side shielding // right is correct design for the two at the VR. Notice that they are different at each end and the bracket is higher the the VR design.
the three at the left are sold on e-bay as being all correct for 53-54 Corvette. WRONG!! again not memtioned in the JM.

Posting pic's of the differences of real original parts I may be up setting some people, but how are we to learn and yes I will or do make mistakes but willing to admit it if shown to be wrong.

I read your post some weeks ago on that issue and I discovered that I had the correct shield condenser in my box-o-parts. Didn't know I had them, and when I remember seeing them 18 years ago I thought they were trash. Came with the car back then. So, it reinforces the common belief that you should NOT THROW AWAY any Vette parts!
