    'New' '66 joins fleet...

Just purchased a '66 coupe from a friend who's owned car since the early 70's. 427-390, original engine (really), trans, rear end, etc., Never hit, 53,000 original miles, just 3,000 miles over the last 40 years. Even still has original side pipes! I've known the car for a long, long time. Some stuff needs to be corrected, but in no hurry. Originally silver, painted red in the 60's (stock color, but LED light distorts these pics). Paint's great, but might repaint it silver, can't decide...Here's a few pics:

        That's a great engine choice, 390 horse 427's are a wonderful combination.

Mike - congrats, it's like you've owned it for all those years but it was in someone else's garage. Super looking Coupe.

I’ve never had a big block Corvette. I had a 396 in a ‘66 Chevelle though, so I have some experience with that type motor. I’ve got a lot of learning to do about the 427.
That's funny Michael. A good friend has a huge place for his cars that we nicknamed "The Garage Majal". Every car guys dream space!

Congratulations. Beautiful big block coupe with sidepipes. Always nice to get a car that you have known for many years. Enjoy it.

Probably very similar to the 396-360 I had in the Chevelle. The fuelie in the background is a bit jealous of the extra 15 horsepower the newbee has

                      Congratulations Mike,
I have a 67 390-427 and it is a great combination, I am sure you will like it. I also had a 66 chevelle 396-360.

What a beauty Michael! Just curious since the topic of Windshield shaded area's have come up lately. Is
                        it original LOF Glass? Thanks>Larry

Michael, beautiful car. I had a '70 LS5 which is the evolution of that L36. Maybe the best street big block ever. Mountains of torque, no need for shifting or RPMs.

I'm an original color guy so I'd go back to Silver. And of course much easier to Top Flight with original color if you're going to have it judged.

And first thing I'd do is get rid of that rubber fuel line before it burns the car to the ground.

Larrry, I believe the windshield is original, at least I can’t feel the marking found half-way up the passenger-side A-pillar, like I can with replacement glass.

Chris, thanks, hadn’t noticed that rubber hose yet, but it’s history as soon a I can get a replacement.

Mike; Looks original to me as the originals seem to blend in a different way then replacements. (See Below)
Tough decisions to make on that color. But how could one go wrong with a C2 Rally Red Coupe?
