Where is the crack. Cast iron can easily be welded. Depending where the crack is it might be welded & ground so that it would be hard to detect especially if you use Cast Blast or some other Manifold paint. Don't have it brazed because it stand out like a sore thumb.

Send it to Jerry MacNeish at Camaro Hi-Performance.
You might want to send both so they look the same.

I echo what Hebert Kranz suggested, as long as the cost isn't
prohibitive. He can make the repair and refinish them, too.

Jerry Macneish does really great work. Check it out at www.z28camaroman@juno.com

I was told that you can't weld cast iron manifolds!
Cast iron can be welded, just that most welders don't have either the skill, patience, or equipment to do so. It has to be preheated prior to welding, maintain most of the heat when welding, and back into the oven to slowly cool down. In years past I have welded (and had others weld) everything from manifolds, cylinder heads, engine blocks, and very large castings.

Headers are for race cars. I owned a 64 B/P FI convert. They always created heat problems, melted ignition wires etc. And they would leak if you did not snug them up after each race. And we only raced 12 laps, three times a weekend. It was fun.....expensive.......and my favorite Corvette ever. BUT NOT FOR EVERY DAY DRIVING.

Thanx James. I want to keep the car as original as possible and couldn't believe when that recommendation was given to me.
