1973 Special order Black paint L82 4 speed coupe -

Picked this one up recently, advertised in DRIVELINE - driven only 2000 miles since 1990.
The tires are from the 70's... maybe early 80's.
    35k miles
    Original Black paint
    Black Leather
PW PS PB Tilt Tele A/C -
Very original - original exhaust - including swaged head pipes, 1987 dated GM replacement mufflers.
Dated T-top bags, original ink stamped alternator,

It was sold new in New York State (probably from the dealer that sold a number of black 73 vettes)
the PO misplaced the NCRS report, so we ordered a copy.

    Great find!

I'd love to have you compare the car to the newly revised 73-74 JG and let us know what you find.
    That's a nice example.

        Patrick,
My brother bought the 73-74 JG, PV manual, and build sheet book 2 weeks ago, would it have been the newest edition?
        Some more photos...
We are going to drop the tank early next week, I am going to Atlanta for the South East chapter meet with my LT1, though I really should substitute this L82.

Bet it's from Hory Chevrolet in New York.

If you’re going to think about Bowtie, I would NOT drop the tank. Use one of the cheap LED fiber optic cameras to peek at the gas tank and see what’s there. Better to leave it alone, photograph it, and get it later.

You have to move more than I’d like to get to the tank sticker. Once you do that, it’s no longer undisturbed no matter what your intent.
My 72 still has the sticker on top; I’ve never gone after it.

The newest is the 3rd edition with 258 pages, colored photos and costs $75.

As much as I would love to see that buildsheet, I agree totally with Patrick, leave the rearend in tact rather than disassemble. A few questions

What does the black stamp on the alternator read?
What does frame stencil look like? Good quality photo?
Grab a good quality photo of the t-top bag stencil.

What we learned when revising the 73/74 TIMJG, is that the date coded mufflers reflect the late 70s method of coding the mufflers we typically see on the later mode C3s. In contrast original mufflers did not provide this extensive coding...

Very nice 73 and would have been great to have had it for the manual. As Patrick states, would be good to use it and test the accuracy of the manual. Do keep us posted.

                    Welcome to the 73 club!
What a great looking "Special" 73. Congratulations! From your pics it looks like you are just missing the smog components. By any chance did the PO still have them lying around? Thanks for sharing it with us. Doesn't it make one wonder just why black stopped being an exterior color option on the C3 from 70 thru 76 ?
Thanks for sharing it with us, oh and BTW it's sounds great too! I heard it in your video over on the CF!

Just need to figure out what came on it. I think I will follow Patrick’s advice and get a small fiber optic camera to look at the tank sticker.
Use the manual to check location of date codes/parts on the smog in a box stuff and take some photos for us.

I just hate it when I read or hear someone say they have to do something, or change something, for NCRS judging. It's not true.
You don't have to do anything for NCRS judging except present your car. Anything you do should be your choice, after careful consideration.
Especially as it applies to your particular car. Please go slowly on this car, and do not do anything to it without careful consideration of potential ramifications. It appears to be a unique and rare example and worthy of preservation as is. Don't act in haste.
