    Thanks

Thought I should post some pictures of my car with the replacement interior. Not completely convinced I should change this color out (as it was done only a few years ago)...and it looks pretty good. Need to replace passenger carpet as I had a heater core start leaking and I did catch it until it had ruined the carpet. Doubt I will be able to purchase one side only.

John, PLEASE check your TRIM TAG. What are the codes? BETTER YET, Take a picture and show the tag. Your car has a black dash.

Jim, go back to the first posts in this thread, back on Page 1. That code is what started this thread. 491AE

            Re: 1964 Corvette Convertible interior

It does appear to be close in some pictures I have from my searching, but not others. Your original carpet looks darker and the edging also looks darker than what is in my car. Yours is a coupe....could there have been a different manufacturer/supplier for the coupe vs a convertible? This may be a futile effort to find a replacement carpet color/manufacturer or even what is judged as an acceptable replacement..restoration carpeting....consistently. For now I am going to try to purchase the passenger carpeting only from supplier I purchased the whole interior from so I can put back together and enjoy driving it until..... I will try to put together a collage of pictures of the interiors I have found....along with any of the data I have asked to be shared on these beautiful color combinations. Ric has shared some...waiting on others to say ya or nay on sharing what they have. 63-67 Corvette registry has some data also. I have gathered it.... If anything...the pictures will show the variations and similarities out there in these classics.

Thanks to all for the continued dialogue on my original request... time will tell if this is futile.... John

491AE called for Silver/Black two-tone vinyl interior. Dash and console in Black, all else in Silver (carpets light gray). As to your best choice for current replacement carpet, I'll leave that to others to answer.

ps, now it occurs to me that you may actually have a 64 conv with a Trim tag marked 941AE, since there were so many errors made in 64 Trim tag stampings. If so, then I think 491 was actually intended, and the info above applies.
I understand DON. My question is there any evidence of a early production convertible car [ first 4000 vin #s ] with a 490 trim number with a suffix DB ,DF, DG, DH, that has silver dash pads and silver painted center console clock / radio ? I know I have beaten this thing to death........but this is how we learn.

Yes, and lighting can also be tricky, mine was taken in a garage with a flash, yours outdoors in a cloudy environment. Let me see if I can get a shot in outside light, it is snowing today, so it may be tomorrow or Tuesday.

                      Sure, here they are: 1 1963, 3 1964s (1 white/tan, 1 black/silver, 1 black/white), and a '66:

On '64 cars what is the correct backing for the carpet.

It's a thin foam material, bonded to the carpet. Over time, it turns to a yellowish powder.

Jim.. in an earlier post I noted that in our data records we had noted 4 coupes and 2 convertibles with a 490D* trim
well today I came across another TT 490DA in a coupe with a very early build date of A26 again all 7 early cars.
The interior had been changed to all black. Would be interesting to dig deep into the dash looking for a trace of silver.
