    I agree with Gene 100%, dab some oil on it and leave it alone. What else are you going to do, the sanding has scratched the pad so the machine marks are pretty much gone but to me it looks like the real deal stamping.

      Agreed.

      There are broach marks there, but they're faint.
      And, that's OK.

      Yes, someone put scratch marks in there too, which is too bad, but such is life.

        The marks in the first pic are clearer.

        The broach marks on the pad of my original engine 63, VIN 3922 look a lot like those, i.e. very faint, almost invisible to the naked eye, but very clear when you shine a light along the edge of the block surface. Never had point deducted for the pad, through two Duntovs. Since VINs of this car and mine aren't that far apart, it makes sense that its 327 would have faint marks also... I'd say they're likely real...
