    Repro wiring harness crossed wires

I seem to recall that it's common knowledge to some people that two wires in one of the C2 wiring harnesses sold by one of the repro companies (LL or M&H) are crossed. I've searched the archives, but can't find what I'm looking for. Does anyone recall such a problem with one of the C2 wiring harnesses from one of the repro vendors that is currently being sold? Or I am mis-remembering things?

    Thanks,

    Gary

I replaced every harness in my 65 with ones from M&H and everything was wired correctly.

      Jim,

Thanks. Good to know. I know that M&H is endorsed in several previous DB postings.

I seem to recall the crossed wire problem was with a 'Letric Limited harness, but my memory is too vague to recall the specifics.

        Gary,
Replaced ALL my wiring harnesses within the last two years with LL harness with zero issues...well, one. The ground wire that exits the harness at the voltage regulator is probably an inch short but you can make it stretch to it's proper location under the capacitor.

          Gary,

I recall that as well .

If memory serves , LL had crossed a few wires in their 3-prong headlight connectors because they faithfully followed a "misprint " in the Factory Wiring Diagram . Even though the original harnesses by Gm were made differently .
I am sure they have figured it out by now , and corrected the problem , as that was a while back.

i installed a main harness in a 67 back in the 80's. i got the harness from lactic limited and there were a pair of wires switched. recall the two wires were in the plug that connected to the rear harness behind the left kick panel. mike

              Mike ,

I don't remember back that far , however I found a post that I think Gary is referring to :

I have been warned, more than once, by Joe Ciaravino that the 65 AIM is wrong, but would like some help on the wiring of the extensions. Basically, which sheet is correct?
In the 67 AIM these same two pages, A10 and D1 show the wiring to be the same in both diagrams. (The two harnesses ahead of these connections are not the same.)
              Thanks for any advice.

              John -

The factory wiring diagram was wrong from '63-'66 (although the actual wiring harnesses were made correctly); if you look at the 3-prong connector that plugs onto the back of the headlight, the bottom terminal is always the black wire (ground). That's why the Lectric Limited harnesses "made exactly to factory specifications" were also wrong and didn't work until LL finally figured out the factory diagram was wrong.

                Jim & MIke,

Thanks for confirming that I didn't dream up this memory. I assume LL has long since corrected this problem.

Other than possible price differences are there any strong reasons for choosing LL over M&H harnesses? Better phone support? Better authentic cosmetics? Etc.

Thru the years I have used M&H for everything that needs wiring and have had no complaints from any customers. They do it once and do it right with all the correct colors, ends and braiding. Nuf said!
From the looks of the previous thread M&H was recommended by everybody that responded.
