    65 Headlight Wiring AIM discrepancies

In the 65 AIM there are two diagrams showing the wiring for the headlight harness extensions. UPC12 sheet A10 shows the tan wire in the right socket and the black in the middle. UPC12 sheet D1 shows the tan in the middle and black to the left.
I have been warned, more than once, by Joe Ciaravino that the 65 AIM is wrong, but would like some help on the wiring of the extensions. Basically, which sheet is correct?
In the 67 AIM these same two pages, A10 and D1 show the wiring to be the same in both diagrams. (The two harnesses ahead of these connections are not the same.)
    Thanks for any advice.

    John -

The factory wiring diagram was wrong from '63-'66 (although the actual wiring harnesses were made correctly); if you look at the 3-prong connector that plugs onto the back of the headlight, the bottom terminal is always the black wire (ground). That's why the Lectric Limited harnesses "made exactly to factory specifications" were also wrong and didn't work until LL finally figured out the factory diagram was wrong.

      Thanks John,
When you say the bottom terminal, you mean the center one, correct? With the headlight's T3 writing up, the center terminal is up. Looking at the the lamp's terminals from the back, the black is the center (top) socket, the right is black with green stripe and the left is the tan?
Sorry for all the questions; I think I blew a couple of perfectly good original T3s because of this although they may have been no good to begin with.

        John -

Yes, the center terminal is ground.
