Then it was from the factory as such. Apparently, this engine is one of the much debated c60 only l79 with deep groove cs and wp pulleys. Original owner and whom I bought from said they were never changed.Last edited by King M.; October 29, 2015, 02:02 PM.- Top

Great job! I pulled my L79 C 60 motor 25 years ago and last winter both times I left all of the C 60 parts off after installing the motor ( other than brackets ) to break the motor in. made changing plugs and inspecting all around a lot easier without the compressor in place. I am thinking about putting a vintage air system in car now. Gasp!! But the car has nothing to prove.- Top

Should the timing marker be orange?
I believe they were natural/plated in later years.Mark Edmondson

Re: Please critique this 1967 L79 engine
So the right hand plug bracket on the back of the engine block is plated and the left one is painted? That explains what I was seeing.
what about the clip on the intake bolt that holds the vacuum line in place? Was it part noted silver or a black color?- Top

Re: Please critique this 1967 L79 engine
The silver spray was only to coverup assembly "markings" that detracted from the aluminum color. The amount of aluminum color paint varies a lot from one engine to another. My experience was the vacuum line bracket phosphate was covered over pretty well to none at all. The only thing that seems to get a good coverage is the mounted thermostat housing, it's gasket, and bolts. The interface area of the manifold, cylinder head, bolts, and intake gasket also typically got aluminum color paint too.- Top
