Re: Radials Tires for the 66'
ATTN: We might have a good solution. I went up and looked at the hancook tire. This is the 205/75/15 H724 Optimo.
Sure nuff...it has a 5/8" WW or just a touch shy of it. Look like a decent tire. They also come in a 215/70/15. See Pics!!- Top

Re: Radials Tires for the 66'
Thanks Don,
Did you get a price for the Hankook tires? I was unable to find anyone locally that had the Uniroyals and a friend of mine thought that Uniroyal was bought by Michelin and didn't think that they were still making that tire. As I said earlier I saw them on a friend midyear, but he bought them several years ago. I ordered the Hankook Optima 205's. They will be here on Thursday. Thanks for the pictures. It would have been nice to have the Hankook name not so obvious, but I think that I can live with it. As I said, I have been driving on the Firestone biasplys for years and hated fighting the grooves in the road. There were times that I almost felt they were going to throw me off the road. I bought them many years ago when I was getting the car judged, but now I just want to enjoy driving the car, but still have a tire that looks close. I'll post some pictures when I get them installed.Gary Nyland

Re: Radials Tires for the 66'
Well I decided not to get the Hankook's after all. I just couldn't take the large Hankook lettering on the sidewall. The whitewall size looked right, but just couldn't do with the lettering. I like the looks of the Cooper Trendsetter SE, so I may just have to live with the slightly larger 3/4" whitewall to get the overall look. The Maxxis tire from Coker may also be an option with the 3/4" whitewall. I may still try to find the Uniroyal's.Gary Nyland

Re: Radials Tires for the 66'
Thanks for the pictures. The extra 1/8" really isn't all that noticeable and the sidewall is a lot cleaner. I'm leaning toward them if I can find them. I'll try some of the local Cooper tire dealers first (won't have to pay shipping) and if I don't have any luck I'll use the internet.Gary Nyland

Re: Radials Tires for the 66'
I found some 205/75R/15 Uniroyal Tiger paws with the 11/16" whitewall at a local tire dealer. I went down and looked at them and they look pretty good. The whitewall looks really close and the Uniroyal lettering isn't to bad. Much better that the lettering on the Hankook Optima. I think I am going to give them a try.Gary Nyland
