    54 passenger seat

photo.jpgMy upper pass. seat seems to sit back farther than others I have seen in photos. Do I have the wrong seat Back maybe? (hopefully not) It just hangs on the hooks. Seems it should be closer to the chrome like the the drivers side.

    Re: 54 passenger seat

Guy, Is it possible your seatbacks are reversed? I'm not up on '54's, but I've reversed the seatbacks on my '59 once in error. I think it was after I did my 2nd or 3rd set of carpets, I forget.

If I recall, the telltale is this.....On the seatback, along the side where it meets the center partition(glove box on later years), the vertical side of the seatback is the "wide" side. The outer vertical side, is narrower, and should face outward.

I suppose you could possibly have two "Lefts", as another possibility. Hope not. If you remove them and look at the frames you could tell.

Don't know what is wrong Guy, but it is not correct. Trying to remember what my 54 looked like, but it was not like your pic. It was even.

there is a RH and a LH
there is a relief at the top where your shoulder is to clear the conv top bracket/area
In the photo - something is off
Either the seat was not built correctly - it should be flush with the water fall
is it a "real" 53-55 seat back frame ?
        something is not correct......

          Re: 54 passenger seat

Thanks for the looks guys. I really dont know if its the correct back or not. My guy did it correctly and its shaped the way its supposed to be. Maybe a later model seat? The driver side is correct in every way. Is the back supposed to sit in those rear prongs on the floor? The bottom seem to sit in there pretty good. Thanks for the help.

The springs shouldnt be right up against the foam....
See how much red material is wrapped around - there shouldnt be that much material.

Well Peter I sure appreciate the pics. Looks like my guy left out the burlap. Is the seat about 8 inches deep?
