The rear differential cross member was powder coated and the inner ring were the cushion is pressed into was also coated. Is it necessary for me to grind off the paint prior to pressing in the cushions? Also are there any tricks to pressing these in or is it fairly straight forward. Thx Dave

Re: pressing in cross member cushions
Dave to help with the install of new bushings I would remove the paint in the recess of the cross member. I used a press on the install and used a little white grease to help ease the new bushings into place.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: pressing in cross member cushions
Do any of you think that petroleum based lubricants -- white grease or never seize -- are good if in contact with the elastomer of the cushions? That is why I like silicone lubes, but the painter doesn't. On the other hand something water soluble from your local drug store might be the safest.Terry- Top
