    1953 corvette

Came across a GM cast iron dual exhaust manifold with intake complete. Did all Blue Flames come with dual exhaust? Were these ever installed on corvette? Possible value and desirability. Thanks in advance!

the dual exhaust manifold was Corvette only for 53, 54, 55 235 Blue Flame six
It was not offered on passenger cars

the intake is also Corvette only - Cast alum for the three YH side draft carbs

The exhaust manifold is a little harder to find
the intake is rather common - are all the "ears" intact? any repairs?
    Does the exhaust riser work?
Are all the carbs and linkage and fuel line fittings intact?

      Chris
the exhaust riser is free and in good operating condition, spring is also in good condition. The intake that is bolted on this appears to be an aftermarket set-up for a two-barrel obviously incorrect per your description. What would be the value of such a exhaust manifold, GM made?

Joe, please post the part number cast into the exhaust and any other numbers. Gary....

It wasn't uncommon to modify a standard 6 cylinder single exhaust into a dual exhaust back in the day.

A good exhaust manifold with a free riser in good condition sells for around 600.00

              can you post a photo?

Not able to post picture at this time but soon. I will be attending the national meet in KC as I live a short distance away. If someone would like to see this in person that would be a great opportunity, I'm going to the swap meet as well.

I don't know where you grew up, but around here all us guys with 6cyl Chevys promplty went to a local muffler shop to get duals installed on our 6cyl Chevys. This included removal of the intake/ex manifolds, a slot cut in the ex manifold so that a plate could be installed and welded in place which made a FULL BLOCK between the front/rear 3 cylinders and then a hole cut in the rear part of the ex manifold and another flange welded in place. MOST of us had Smithys (the H is silent) glasspack mufflers installed and we then had hot Chevys!
The "rich" kids went to the local Chevy parts dept and bought a 6cyl Vette ex manifold for $17. I acquired mine (and still have it) from a salvage yard for about $5. I mated it to an aftermarket alum intake with 2 carbs. Ran that setup on a 261 in my 51 Chevy until I installed the first V8 (283 with 2x4s) in 67.

Where would the casting date be on the exhaust manifold? Will post a picture this evening if I am able.
