Don, I have some notes in the shop with the green paint colors and their makers. I'll get it for you in the morning when I get out there.

      Don,

Here you go......A few G'gld links too. Maybe check local Ace or Walmart, etc. I got these colors from Bill Harrison Speedometer when I was there a few weeks ago, Bill is a very sharing expert in his field.

      Light Green:

      Krylon Catalina Mist

      Dark Green: Two steps....

X-O Rust Gloss Medium Green XOP 7125845

Then dust over the Med Green Gloss with:
      Krylon Matt Finish Clear

      Rich
p.s. I had more links but no mare than 4 allowed.

        Don -

That piece of tape, although it looks Bubba, was installed by AC Spark Plug in order to plug a light leak that showed through the ignition switch (it was cheaper than revising the hot injection mold to add a wall section). Leave it as is.

          Don,

You will not find that window machined in the casting on the 63-64 Instrument Bezel. It was machined in starting in 1965 to make room for the new ignition switch that had the lamp moulded into the igntion switch. The tape sealed the cluster bezel and gave just enough room for the new switch.

            Thanks guys.
Now if I could only find a Hobby Lobby that actually has the paint in stock...
I'll have more time to widen the search on Tuesday.

That green Krylon was a perfect match.

Glad it helped, Bill Harrison gets the Kudos.....

Who had it? Did you find it locally? I had to order mine online.

A Hobby Lobby had it in stock. After calling a few stores and talking to people that I doubt knew their own name, I was able to talk to a manager, explained the situation, was put on hold for a few minutes, and when she came back said she had 6 cans on the shelf.

If you see or contact Bill again, give two big THANKS for me.

                      Both big and small lenses.

As I begin the re-assembly, how do get the rubber pieces to stay in place, will the weight of the lens do the trick?

Is contact cement OK to use to mount the trip odometer gasket in place? I believe the original had a layer of adhesive tape, like a peel-n-stick.

Harry, I don't believe that an o-ring would be as soft as the rubber pieces supplied in the kits, might be too firm and too small of a cross sectional diameter.

Don, I've used o-rings with an OD of 1.75 inches on the small gauges. On the larger gauges I've not needed to replace any of the original rubber. I've done about 6 clusters over the last year and have not had any problems with the o-rings.

Also, please do not use glue anywhere. Everything should stay in place by itself.

                        Good luck.

Re: 1967 Gauge cluster - Ammeter

                          Thanks for the help gentlemen!
After cleaning and painting I got it all re-assembled today. Had a few bumps in the road though. I must have assembled it 5 times, as each time I thought I had it done and check the gauge faces, I'd find a chunk of dust. So I'd take it apart, remove the dust, and try it again. It turns out the dust was actually light green paint flakes from the studs and nuts that hold the lens retainer in place. Finally all back together and the lenses are clean. Nope, I didn't get the small black foam seal for the trip odometer back in, yeah, take it apart and back together again for the last time. Wiper switch is installed and the ignition switch.
Tomorrow it goes back into the car and then Monday another visit to the back doc.
Then the driver's seat, horn, and steering wheel (less 47 years of crud).
