Guys,
Just finished rebuilding the vent window regulator on my 66 convertible. Gears are tight but the issue I' m now having is the vent window doesn't "nest" or sit correctly in the weather strip pocket. I have to push the top of the vent wing forward just slightly ( about 1/32") to get it to seat correctly in the gasket. I can see the upper pin (hinge) on the vent window frame is worn. The vent window is tight on the regulator. The hinge pin is tight except for the final 1/4" travel before seating then it is loose.
If I can remove the vent window, can the hinge pin be shimmed with some thin sheet metal stock? Other repair methods??
