Threaded tape for vacuum hose connections used at factory on a 69

Whats the best way to get the treaded tape look at the vacuum hose connections for a c3? My originals are long gone.

Where does the tape need to be? I know at the center tree between the headlights...anywhere else?

For 1969 & 1970 it is found at the filter right off the intake and at the T at the drivers side drain gutter just outboard of the master cylinder and a lot of other places I can't remember.

Gary, I believe there are a few places I think the AIM may show you those places, and the engine type may vary where the tape is placed.

            Gary

The vacuum hose tape on a 69 will be similar to packaging tape. It is a clear tape that will yellow with age. The cloth tape started in 1971 if I remember correctly.

Ed, are you speaking of the black cloth tape that helps hold the vacuum hoses themselves (not the connectors) in a bundle? If I understand the OP the tape he's taking about is a clear plastic tape with "threads" in it.

Terry in this previous thread you confirmed with a picture that your 70 originally had tape around the washer check valves as well: https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...e+vacuum+hoses

This thread has some good general tape photos as well:

I found 3M clear tape with threads that was identical to the tape on my 70 other than width. I cut it down and only thing now i sit is too new and not so yellow and dry.

                      Bill and Gary-----

Yes, I agree. The 3M reinforced packaging tape is identical to the original tape. Very easy to find in your local office supply store. You won't need very much of the roll for the vacuum hose connections. You can use the rest for packaging. It's great for that, too.

What is the width of the original tape?
