    58 leaf springs 340E8 date

Can anybody tell me what 340E8 stands for on the bottom leaf spring? I would think E is for June and the 8 is for 58 but not sure what the 340 stands for.

Phillip, if 340 is the day of the year they would not be correct for my july 16th build date, is that correct?

Thanks Phillip, I was looking at these springs on ebay hoping they would be correct for my July 58 car. I don't guess I will not bid on them.

You can't see the date as-installed - it's covered by by the spring/shock retainer plate.

John, would you look at the leaf springs that is listed on ebay. One of them are bent on the end, just want your opinion to see if you think it can be straightened.

                    Brandon -

I think a good spring shop could correct that - will require disassembly, heat, repair, and anneal.

Thanks John, do you have any idea what Eaton would charge to restore a set of springs.

                        Brandon,

Make sure the "340E8" is under the spring shackle plate. Sometimes, no often, but sometimes the stampings are outside of the plate area and can be seen during judging.

Nope, not offhand - call Mike Eaton at (313) 963-3839 and ask.
