    Duntov Display and PV

I was wondering about the item on National and Regional meets called "Duntov Display". Can a former Duntov Award car be entered if not now owned by the owner who received the Duntov for the car? In other words, is this for the owner or the car? Also, can a former Duntov Award car, under a new owner, be displayed and be entered for PV? Thanks.

Michael...the Duntov award does NOT go with the car...if a previous Duntov award car is sold the new owner starts from square one...and has to go thru the entire process again...just as if it has never been judged. So it can't be displayed as a Duntov Display car...and if you want to attempt a PV at a regional or convention, you must have achieved at least a 3rd flight as the owner of the car at any meet.

        Michael,

All the Judging Awards and information is in the Judging Reference Manual. Good addition for any NCRS member who's Judging or having cars Judged.

I vaguely remember that book, I bought it 6 years ago when I joined NCRS, and got the 8th Edition from Roy at the Judging Retreat in Dallas a year or so ago. It has all this info in it? Who would have thunk it?

I'm glad you're here Michael to ask all the stupid questions. It saves me the trouble of asking them. I sure as heck would not have known to look there.

Ha! Thanks Mike. My confidence level in my fully understanding what is written in the NCRS manuals has been beaten down over the years by the judges and officials, so most of the time I just blurt out a question when things are not clear to me. That seems to get me more info and confidence that I know what is gong on, but sometimes it does come off as "stupid".

In spite of my sometimes pointed responses -- there are no stupid questions.

I sometimes learn from others questions, as I am sure many do.

For about twenty years I taught adult education courses for the community college system here. At the beginning of each class I would emphasize that the only stupid question was the question you did d not ask. No one starts knowing everything. I also emphasized the fact that I did not know all the answers, but was smart enough to know who to ask for the answers.

I didn't know that a Duntov award didn't transfer with ownership.

I think that "rule" is probably pretty obscure to most people. In fact knowing that, I first thought the "Duntov Display" at the meets might mean the owners sitting in chairs, since the award goes to them, not the car…...

Tim...it never has gone with the car...new owner has to start all over again...however...there are some awards that do go with the car if it is sold and is kept the way it was when it received the award...there will be a test later!!!!
