Sorry Roy, you obviously know this car better than I. I just thought the vintage scoring sheets were instructive and interesting, at least for me. Most of us never get to see such vintage scoring sheets and the car they go with, if the latter is even the case….

The old score sheets are cool, many have never seen them, its just a poor example to use as most likely this one does not get judged under todays guidelines. No apology necessary..

I have some score sheets from the 1990 National. I can scan and post them if anyone wants to see them...

If everyone can be patient and wait till July, I can PROMISE that every member will get a chance to see the old score sheets and the evolution of NCRS from it's beginning...and that's all I'm going to share!!!!!

              Vinnie,

Can't wait!!! Even though I've been here longer than most I have never seen or can remember the first judging sheets. I do remember sending Sam dozens of pictures from a friends 55 Corvette Copper that had never been touched so he could document things like the rear window manufacturers seal or the color of the door knobs. Those were the days when you went to a meet you would hear "Man have you seen that Corvette down that other row, it's for real". And it really was!

In judging back in the mid to later 80's did the engine stamp pad get judged like today? Today if re-stamped one loses 88 points, so really 'starting' at 98 percent before any other deducts. Could a car back in the 80's have had a re-stamp engine and score 98-99 percent?Just wondered what detail was done back then.

Car has less than 50 miles since resto and judging, stored inside since. Lacquer paint too.Just wonder what the level of judging was back then vs. the level today. Of course back then cars had far more original parts on them vs. today's repro items, but wondered about detail judging level then vs. now and what one could expect of the difference. Thanks for any input.John
                  John,

The most significant development regarding judging of midyear Corvettes, was the Grenning/Sinor breakthrough revealing replacement trim tags around 2003. There are probably tens, if not hundreds of Top Flight and Duntov cars out there with Gen III phony TTs............foolproof until about 2003...................which would now be disqualified from judging.

If you look at the 1988 judging sheet on the car I linked to, you will see the entire "engine block" is 350 points total, but has a designation that deductions were based on "standard deduction tables". I don't know what those were, but I would suspect they tried to determine if the surface, etc. was TFP. Guess they had standard deductions for that. Maybe Vinnie's article will shed some light on what that was.
