There is also a silver/red tanker going to be at the sale as well along with the Dick Lang 63 ZO6 tanker race car. Should be interesting.

The real point with counterfeit cars is: The only person that really cares is the buyer.
I think JR had a great point in saying "If you purchase a fake Counterfeit Corvette you get what you deserve!!!"

If they have not done enough research, it is a lesson learned. If you cannot tell if the car is a fake, you should just hope you paid a fair price.
When I bought my 63, paperwork was the last thing I was thinking about, back then. I was thinking about enjoying the car.

I have done a lot of that.
If you are one of the ones out there paying top dollar for a certain car, more power to you.

I buy my cars. I build my cars. I drive my cars. And I enjoy the hell out of my cars.
When my kids go to sell my cars, when it is time, there is a very good chance they will be selling for a dime a dozen anyway, as the market will be flooded with all of us gone and no one wanting to buy the tens of thousands of these cars.

If you pay too much, it is on you. It is just a car.

Or put more concisely, Monte owns his cars, his cars do not own him. There's way too many cases where it's the other way around.

This would all stop if a "fake" list were published. But it never will, guys know of "fakes" and only mention it, and never provide details or numbers.

Many cheaters in the club. Many drove Ford and Chrysler back in the day. Most Judges never ever pulled a engine in their life, or changed a universel joint. Not hard to trick them. But this sure is a Great Hobby, and Great Resource Center for the Men wanting to put these Corvettes back to Factory Spec. If you Didn't buy them brand new, then you might have paid to much for a Fake.

My guess is that there would be legal problems if published. There is no doubt in my mind that on this "list" there are a few real legit cars that got on
this list by mistake for one reason or the other. I just can't believe that this list is 100% accurate. Larry

You hit the nail on the head. i used to belong to the LI chapter i was around 30 and remember a white haired rich guy not wanting a guy my age sitting in his car. His attitude was holier than though and his hands looked like they were soaking in hand cream from the day he was born. had corvettes all my life but cant stand 1/2 the people. i hope the market crashes so that i can buy my tanker some day.

Do the build records actually exist for the cars? If so why can't they be released or let some recognized organization such as NCRS do the research with the available records? I'm sure this question has been posed before.

If you want to have some fun, and have some time on your hands:

                        http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...d-records.html

I found this with a Google search, and I was looking for Art Armstrong's article on his years-long search for these records. I didn't find Art's story (it has been in The Restorer) as well as elsewhere on the 'net, but this seemed as much fun. Please note this CF thread started in May of 2008, and the last posting was October 2011 -- and still nothing. My advice is not to hold your breath.

This is just a cycle that comes along every so often. We went through the same thing in the '90s. Prices went crazy for awhile and then as the stock market boys like to say, there was "an adjustment". Lot of people got burned but fortunately for the most part it was people that were only in it for the money to begin with. Those of us that are here because of our interest in the cars just need to ride the storm out.
