Jim, thanks for your response. It is the one I have looking forward to receiving.

When you get a chance could you give me a build date.

I just got an email message disclosing that a 1990 ZR1, unit number 785 had glass headlamps.

Your information and the information I received from Tom Barr is making sense as to what happened in 1990.

If anyone else out there has a 1990 ZR1, please let us know.

Folks, we need some more participation on this topic.

We have narrowed our search to two model years of interest.

The first is the 1990 ZR1. We need more information on this model. It is the year in which we have Glass and Plastic headlamps reported.

But we only have a couple of examples.

If you do not have a 1990 ZR1, then maybe a friend has one or you know where one is in a collection or anywhere.

We do not need the VIN, would be helpful, we just need the type-Glass/Plastic , Manufacturer and a build date.

The second model is the 1992. We now know approximately when the change over from Glass to Plastic occurred. But we need more information to say this is the approximate build date change over. We have a 1992 February Build with Glass and a June Build with Plastic.

Also, we would still take any year information to further strengthen our findings.

Thanks for any help and especially to those folks who took the time to respond.

my 90 ZR-1 (1422) has Wagner plastic headlights. The build date is Feb. 2 (90-933)

Pat, sorry I took so long to respond. Here is my finding. My car 1995, has only 15,000 mile and I am not the original owner. When I first noticed my headlights, they were Sylvania glass, with the lot date of 101105. I have since changed them to NOS plastic Wagners in order to meet judging expectations. I'm attaching picture of the headlights that came with the car for your review. Is it possible that the glass headlights are the original headlights? When I spoke to the original owner, he told me that they were never changed.

Ed, thanks for your response. I really don't have an answer for you at this time. This is why I am trying to get as much information as I can.
The only thing that I can say to you is "Don't throw anything away".
They might just be originals although if the 101105 is a date, could it be October 11, 2005. Just some food for thought.

I have place a request in the next restorer in the Information Wanted section for some help.

I have a Corvette friend who has a 1990 ZR-1 which he purchased in 1996 and at that time the car had glass sealed beams in it, he thinks they were Guide manufacture. His vin # is approximately the first third of production so I estimate maybe a Dec 1989 build date. He has since changed them over to Wagner plastic.

If they were of Guide manufacture and both the same, then I have no doubt they were original to the car.

I just got two more 1990 ZR1 referrals and the both are Glass Guide.
The information still trickles in and I am thankful for the time and effort of the contributors.
Should be interesting to see if I get some results from the local Corvette Clubs that I contacted.

Joe - Thank you for posting photos of your original sealed beams from your 1992 LT1. You have added more credence to the suspicion the early 1992 LT1 came with Sylvania glass sealed beams. It will be interesting to see if Pat will be able to narrow down when the change over occurred. I am attaching photos of my original Sylvania plastic sealed beams from my June built 1992 LT1. The bulbs appear to have been built on May 11, 1992. Both bulbs show 051192 with different numbers to the side. I don't know the meaning of 0544 and the 0606 numbers. I believe the HP6054 indicates Halogen Plastic and 6054 the part number.
