Re: Mid Year Glove Compartment Lock Operation
I suggest you review the owner's advisory within the CJRM . There is a specified procedure regarding timely and orderly dispute of judging decisions. When you get your judging sheets returned to you from the Frisco meet, send me an email and I'll be more than happy to review them again with you. I think you will learn the sum of minor deducts you mention will have little bearing on your final award. Think about how many points it takes to change your score just one percent...Last edited by Nick C.; October 28, 2013, 11:54 PM.- Top

Re: Mid Year Glove Compartment Lock Operation
I just looked at the 63 JG for Glove Box Lock. There is NO mention of pulling the key. Essentially all it says is lock and unlock smoothly, open and close without slamming.
Whoever started the other thread about this should notify his Team Leader and complain.
If the Team Leader wants to pull the key during PV that is a different judging process.
Harry,
The Team Leader HAS responded to the process of judging!
At least twice! Nick monitors this tech board, receives feedback and answers questions unlike some other Team Leaders! He is very proactive in helping others. That's what the definition of a Team Leader should be!

I suggest every owner does what I do prior to the meet. Judge your car yourself (even get friends to help) be hard on points deduction. Also use the CDCIF guide lines. You will find it takes longer since you are looking at each and every part for 6 areas. That is 5 CDCIF's plus condition. If you are honest and have done your home work, you will find there are more issues missed in flight judging than your own judging. Be honest, especially on body paint. If you have B/C, you know dam well it's not correct. I review my sheets with the judges as a shared learning process only after the sheets are signed. It's fun to do.- Top

John, I'm not trying to pick on you here but I looked at your profile and it appears that you have never judged! My suggestion would be go to a couple of meets and judge. I think that you begin to have more appreciation for the Judges and the process.
Also take Nicks advice.
Remember this is supposed to be fun.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Mid Year Glove Compartment Lock Operation
I only expected to have the correct items get deducts, did not expect I had to 'police' the judges on items that should not get deducts. One point at a time adds up to more, the car got top flight, was never concerned about that as I felt it was prepared pretty well. Just not fun when one gets deducts, even if one point for things that should not get them. I am not a judge and just do not have the time to invest in doing that and preparing a car to try to make it correct. I felt that even my stamp pad which had been approved by Gary Nabors and previously by Derrick Smith and got the 88 point deduct was not right, but? Then when one wants to go further in NCRS and starts at 98 it is hard to let any points go and still make 97 for anything further. All defeats my goals of further judging venues when you end up there.- Top

you may have seen the previous comments, but you are not reading them. Your mindset towards judging is all wrong if you think its the owners job to police the judges to ensure no wrong deducts are taken. The team leader and judging chairman police the judges. The owners do not. Owners bring their cars out for fun and enjoyment, camaraderie with other vette owners with the same passion they have for these cars we love. If any owner is going to sweat ones or twos point deductions on a car that is high top flight, he should not subject himself to the process. When all cars in all the chapters are judged by computers, you might get perfect and consistent scoring. As long as it is done as it is now, by volunteer human judges, there will be some errors and minor inconsistencies. Life is too short to get tied in knots about that.- Top

I just could not remember the name of the person in Frisco that first mentioned the concern, I was just trying to get them together.

Re: Mid Year Glove Compartment Lock Operation
When I got the deducts of a few points for the glove box lock in the ops check I figured I did not know all the in and outs of judging, Judges knew what was correct as they told me the key could not come out if partially turned. I had never read that or knew that, so assumed the 'learning' process for me. Still not sure what is really right for ops judging, but many seem to think that one is not right and gone too far? I just don't know and did not challenge it as they seemed to have the answers and the knowledge I did not have. Even after reading the guide and doing what I felt for ops was correct I lost the points, do not have sheets back yet, but it was not just one if I recall correctly. After towing for 1100 miles my back up lights did not work, just loose connection now fixed, that one is not judges fault for sure. Worked perfectly at chapter meet the previous week, and no deducts in ops at all there.- Top

Re: Mid Year Glove Compartment Lock Operation
Last time my neglected 63 aka Little white car was judged my buddy and I worked about 2 or 3 weeks practicing for the OPS check at a regional. Everything worked perfect. The car almost passed ops 100% until a nice judge noticed that the outside door locks worked backwards. It seems that my locks are reversed on the car.
Everyone laughed as my judging friends like it when my car gets dinged. But none laugh harder than me. It's all in fun you know even though we spend boo coo bucks on a car. At least we are still alive and kickin.
Never did change the door locks and don't plan on it as don't want to mess up the white lacquer paint.
Sorry to BS John as the above has nothing to do with your post. Take care, JD- Top
