It has been brought to my attention that in Operations Judging owners have been asked to move the the glove compartment lock with the key to a position between LOCK & UNLOCK & then asked to see if the key can be removed & if the key can be removed there is a deduction. Personally, I figure if the glove compartment lock locks the glove compartment lock in the LOCK position & unlocks the glove compartment lock in the UNLOCK position, there is little valve in knowing that the key can be removed from the lock in a position between the LOCK & UNLOCK positions.
It sounds like a variation of the "test" for the key removal of the ignition switch but as far as I can tell, there is no description of such a "test" in the mid-year Owners Guides/Manuals.
Inquiring minding want to know the GM and/or Briggs & Stratton engineering specification basis for this "test."
Thanks, Pete
