My 63 was done by Brake and Equipment Warehouse in Minneapolis (612) 378-3141 (800) 233-4053. Very quick turn around, looked like a new Master Cylinder. I had them do the cleaning and install the sleeve, and I rebuild with a new kit. They charged $95 and that includes the return postage.

Mike, did the shop in Minneapolis do your MC? If yes, are you OK with the work? I just sent them my spare 63 MC to insert a SS sleeve.

Re: stainless sleeving of master/wheel cylinders

For you guys that had sleeves installed.....

I had a '60 MC handed to me that was sleeved in brass. Used DOT 5 silicone fluid. BTW, last several C1/C2's I've done are DOT 5 and I'll NEVER go back to DOT 3.

When I bench bled it after a Corvette Central MC kit, it chugged(like a slightly jerky feeling) and squeaked like crazy. I thought it may have been due to using that older CC MC rebuild kit, so I took it apart again and installed a brandy new NAPA rebuild kit......Same squeaky, jerky, chugging, bench bleed. I installed on the car and bled the whole system. Brakes are fine, but I can feel & hear a slight squeakiness and jerkiness in the pedal. The more I use the brakes it appears to be getting less noticeable.

The other past DOT5 restorations didn't have this oddity, but they were brand new MC's, not sleeved.

Anybody ever notice this on their sleeved MC's?

The C4 is designed to use DOT3 brake fluid in the hydraulic clutch. There used to be a special brake fluid available from GM for the clutch that eliminated squeaking as you actuated the clutch master cylinder. The squeaking as you cycle the cylinder must be a common issue....
