    Re: Blacken Stuff

Here are a couple of bolts one was plated with Eastwood kit the other blacken with their blacken kit, both were media blasted. The blacken will start rusting almost as soon as you take out of the chemical so I then treated it them with BioShield. Eastwood includes clear with the kit. I didn't use it, just get the chemicals and save a few $$$. Some of these other methods look pretty good too. I'm a big fan of BioShield for raw cast parts too. The second and third shot is of the parts installed in the chassis. The last shot is the same bolts after they were removed from the chassis prior to restoration.

A common denominator that I see here is "yes it's simple but " there is also mention of removing old plating. Does this "old plating" include chrome or can these processes be used to blacken something that is chrome plated?
      Thanks
