    Re: C3 Tire question

If it is mounted with the black side out and a white stripe toward the inside, it is suspect even though the dates sound right. Not say it was impossible for an original tire to be mounted "backwards," but it is not TFP and you will never convince the judges otherwise.

How did you determine the date of the tire?

My spare tire in conjunction with the omitted info on the build sheet was the actual bases for my original question. My spare tire is a Blackwall Goodyear(both sides) Speedway, F70-15 Wide Tread, Load Range B, 4 ply Tubeless. The 7 character TIC is LR91066, based on info in Bizzoco book U= 1968, R= December.1= Akron,OH the other numbers...? The wheel/rim notes K-1-9 1 17 AZ which appears to be in close agreement with the tire. The other 4 wheels/rims have code K-1-8-12 11 AZ. If anyone should happen to know the rest of the TIC it would be nice info to know.

Terry, The date code molded into the tire is UCO1B27. From 1969 Stingray Guidebook by Rick Bizzoco this translates into 1969 Sept Goodyear Akron. Thanks for any additional information. Steve

How does the L become U? A typo someplace perhaps?

I can not give you any more information. Bizzoco has printed the same code I have as it relates to 1969. There are additional Goodyear codes for other years. To my knowledge the other characters in the code relate to the style and size of the tire. As far as I know that part of the code has never been released, but one can look at the tire and easily discern the size and style.

The LR prefix is correct the (U) is a typo, thanks.
