My 1969 Build Sheet/Corvette Order Copy does not indicate any specific tire size/brand or option codes. What does this indicate? That it may have originally came with some type of black wall tire? It currently has repro F70-15 Firestone Red Lines.

Re: C3 Tire question
I would think the lack of an optional tire on the sheet would indicate the standard tire. I would think that would have been a blackwall.Last edited by Tom H.; October 6, 2013, 03:25 PM.Tom Hendricks

Re: C3 Tire question
prior to September 1969, the car would have been delivered with a white or red strip tire (not sure about black walls).
The RWL tires were not available until late 1969 production.
Only Goodyear tires will pass judging with minimal deductions.- Top

Re: C3 Tire question
Don, Don't sweat the red stripe as it was an original tire style for you car. Also, don't turn it around to black-side out cuz that will kill the points for judging. The size is right, and if they are Goodyear your deducts will be minimal. Kelsey Goodyears are pretty much spot on, Coker Firestones, not so much.Kurt Geis

Re: C3 Tire question
Tom------
That's what it was. No matter when in the 1969 model year it was built, early, late, or in-between, the standard tire was an F-70-15 BLACKWALL.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C3 Tire question
Thanks Bill, I have the 2ed,3ed and 4th editions, I will review those again but I believe you and the other folks here have confirmed what I had suspected about the standard tires. Again thanks for the clarification, now all I have to do is decide how far to take this little jewel.- Top

Re: C3 Tire question
I have a 1969 convertible with what I thought was an original spare. The tire is a F70 15,Goodyear, Speedway, Wide Tread tire that does not look like it has been on the ground. It still has the rubber 'whiskers'. The tire has a thin, about 1/2 inch white wall line with the black side out. The build date of the car is October 1969 and the tire build date is September 1969. Is this tire not correct since it has the 'white line'? Appreciate any comments.- Top
