So my 62 wheels have 4 nubs on the inside edge of the wheels to hold the full hubcap or wheel cover. Should my 54 wheels have similar nubs or are they smooth?

Good to hear from you Mike, and thanks. I have a chapter meet this weekend and Dave Brigham should be there. He should be able to confirm this.- Top

Re: Wheel question 54 vs 62 nubs
our 54, which we purchased in 1970, had two numbed wheels and three non-nubed wheels when we acquired it. i can state that without the nubs, full hubcaps have departed the rim on several occasions. i like nubs, whether they come on wheels or chests. mike- Top

Re: Wheel question 54 vs 62 nubs
according to GM records and Nolans book - 54 cars did not have the nubs part number 3714202 -
55 cars did have the nubs and also had the wheel seals - the part number remained the same for 55
I look at the back of the wheel
The wheel should be riveted together

Re: Wheel question 54 vs 62 nubs
i only see one washer jar bracket mentioned by Nolan for a 55 and that is 3113324. blue print for 3113324 appears correct, but the bracket used as a example is probably as close as nolan could get for a bracket out of a car.- Top

Re: Wheel question 54 vs 62 nubs
The photo is not even close. The bracket is shown correctly in the drawing above the photo. It has the square shaped wide ribbed band just like the 54. But the back piece that attaches to the inner fender differs from the 54.
I've seen restorers go by the photo and use an incorrect round car bracket.- Top
