This pan has been damaged somewhere "along the way". Below is a picture of the area on a known-original, undamaged pan. I have never seen a known-original, undamaged pan that looked significantly different than the one pictured.

      Jeff,

Before spenting $$$, I would heat that area and fix the dent, fill any imperfections with J&B weld and sand to a nice contour. It's a good idea to check the oil plug threads as they can be repaired if needed.

Joe, I see that Keen parts is showing a pan with power steering. In 68 was there two pans. One for manual and one for power? Thanks again, Jeff

No, for 1968 all Corvette small blocks used the "5 quart" oil pan which could be used with either manual or power steering.

The "6 quart" oil pan cannot be used with power steering but it was never used for ANY 1968. It was used only for 1963-65 with SHP and without power steering, early 1970 LT-1 without power steering, and 1970-72 ZR-1.

The "6 quart" oil pan was not used for any 1966-69 Corvette small block although some say that some 1966 L-79 without power steering used it. I've never confirmed that, though.

Joe, the drain plug in your picture has a large "D" on the front. My Survivor has a large "A" . Am I getting too picky in the "correct world"? LOL. I might have to look for a plug if this is the norm. Jeff

For 1968+, these drain plugs were being used by the MILLIONS across all GM car and truck lines. I feel very confident there were several manufacturers that supplied them to GM at any given time.
