Thanks Gary, it seems your search of the word "trailers" returned much better results than I got when I searched on that same word, you must have "inside" info on searches.....

    Here's what I got:

Thanks, yes you guys are right, a good reminder. I am a pony car type now (C2, Shelby, Barracuda), but who knows, when I get really old I might need a more luxurious car, like a '31 V16 Caddy.....or a '59 Caddy, then I will need a really big trailer....

I was like you when I bought my fifth wheel, 7' inside height. I ended up haulin '57 Caddy vert, A Model's, the biggie, a '29 Packard touring car. And I bought it to just haul a Corvette.

Your best bet is to find someone in your Chapter who's already done all of this and borrow or rent his trailer. It's been my modus operandi with my 72 and worked great. Otherwise once you own one you have to store it, maintain it, etc.

Yes, that is another good option, I need to check around. I am hoping that a car trailer is not like a boat, where the owner has two good days while he owns it, the day he buys it and the day he sells it.....

It's probably close. If you count the number of days (events) you'll actually use it, it's a horribly inefficient and expensive piece of equipment. That's why some choose to have their vehicle shipped by carrier such as Reliable or Intercity instead.

I use mine for storage; nice place to use to store/keep summer things like lawnmowers/tillers/weeders and etc. Larry

How bout the open car trailer you can rent from U-Haul? Is the open bottom on these a bad thing?

                      William,

Lots of members use open trailers to haul their Corvette. There are risks associated with open trailers. A few years back a member showed up at a Regional event with a board kicked up by a passing semi stuck in the front end

Welcome to the ncrs; since you said that you are new to "car hauling" my advice is to go to people that haul and chat with them.
Have them show you how to load and set tongue weight; maybe let you ride on a haul. I have pulled over 300 times and I prefer a 24 ft. beavertail with tailgate ramp, side exit, electric winch and electric ball crank. You can get use or new. I suggest you start with used as the learning experience will teach you much and you can trade up. As for as the Trailex, the cost is to much at 18K plus, and the narrow but HEAVY ramps to pull out and push in each time you load and the lack of head room, but you can spend more $ and buy headroom. (That is one mans opinion). You can get into car hauling for about 4K for used up into the area of 12K for new; the notion of logo on the side is your choice; in my hauls only one time has someone asked me "what's in the box"; I opened it and showed him. Good luck and have fun.
George, As a long time Trailex owner I must respectfully take exception on your Trailex comments. First you get what you pay for and good things hold their value. I paid 11.5 K for mine in 2002 and I could get my money back easily today. No other trailer can match that. The ramps slide out easily and even at my advanced age they pose no problem for me. The balance and light weight are second to none. Mine is stored outdoors and looks as good today as it did 11 years ago. When I bought mine I initially towed it with a V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee for many years without any issues. The savings on the tow vehicle were significant. Unless you are simply not able to afford one any car enthusiast would be remiss to not consider one. Once you hook it on the back of your tow vehicle and tow with a Trailex you would not buy anything else.

for me trailex way overpriced. I went with wells cargo 20', should have got 24', but was super happy with it and it pulled like a champ. used for storage, car transportation etc. and wish I had never sold...now I am looking at a new 24' wells cargo....best made in my opinion...do research and pick what floats your boat. good luck.
