Judging from the number of C5s and C6s in the parking lot and Sportsman here in Hampton, I would say the new Corvettes are quite popular with most members who have to drive long distances, wonder why? I mean 2400 miles with no A/C, no P/S, P/B, and side pipes in the middle of July isn't that bad, is it?

Guess I'm lucky. My '67 L79 and '67 L36 both have snowball cold factory C60 real R12 AC, P/B, don't over heat, and are pleasures to drive. I Like the C2 seating position better than most of the later half way lying down ones. Besides, they're classics, and doubt any later C's, other than a few early C3's with special engines, will ever be regarded as such even though, yes, C6's and presumably, C7's are faster , require less tender loving care and have more gadgets (for better or worse).

It seems that the predominant theme running through this thread is the poor performance of the GPS system on the C6. So today I stopped by the house where I first talked to the young engineer and told him what was being said. He told me that the GPS is a totally new system for the C7. Does that mean it will perform as well as a $79 Garmin? Who knows.

only time will tell on the nav system or other design features, GM is looking to sell to the younger crowd as the older crowd (like myself)....remember we were the younger crowd once who car manufacturers sought to please

Tom Hill (Bowling Green Quality Engineer) brought a 2014 to Convention a couple of weeks ago. We used it as part of the very Advanced Judging Seminar. We may have been the first non-GM employees to see the underside.

Anyway, among the many questions we asked; I raised the C6 NAV system issues. He gave the same response you got Jeff-- thanks for bringing it up with your neighbor. Tom also added that changes can be made to the new system on the road IF there is a passenger in the car. So put one of your day bags on the passenger seat.

I forgot to ask Tom if the trip odometer will register more than 2200 miles before it resets to zero -- that is another lovely "feature" of the C6 that bothers us Road Tour participants. The response (not from Tom) when I asked when my 2008 was new was: "It does that?" In fairness the guy I asked has nothing to do with the interior (or "soft parts" as he called them).

Who cares? Corvettes are for driving. If you want to play computer nerd, buy a BMW.

And how do you suppose I found out the trip odometer resets to 0 after 2200 miles? Hint: It wasn't by watching the car in the garage or loading it on and off a trailer.

I'm glad you warned me about that Terry, as I was trying to clock the Road Tour miles and I had to keep going back to see total elapsed miles before it turned over.... What a pain.

Hey! I just thought of something that might get around the trip odometer problem: Write down the mileage on the regular odometer when you start and subtract it from mileage at end of trip. Think it will work? Works on my C1 and don't have to go through a "menu", etc.

Good thing Bill wasn't around in the Old days or we would still not be judging C-2'S. They said that there were no real Corvettes after 1962 that is why I waited to join when C-2'S were allowed to be judged. Some quit over it & formed sacc. Also when was AC a performance option since Corvettes are for only going fast? Come to phoenix & try to find a address with only a map. 7th street & 7th Ave are miles apart& street names change at intersections.

Got '67 L79 and L36, both with cold factory AC and trip odometers, as well as the '62; love them for different reasons; . Just think too much effort being put into computer type stuff, that's often more difficult to work with than dials and buttons, and cup holders than ought to be .BMW "I- Drive" an excellent example. Understand having radio, etc. controlled by software is cheaper for manufacturer than being hard wired, also. By the way, how many miles do the C2 trip odometers register before turning over?-haven't checked mine lately..

Even if the C7 Nav system is rudimentary, I will get it since it will also be a part of the HUD. You don't need anything too fancy to go onto the HUD, it will just clutter up your vision. All you need on the HUD is: next turn, how far away, and which lane you should be in to make that turn. With that info, you can keep your eyes on the road.

I suspect that the in-car Nav will not keep up to date with any Garmin over the years since GM would be slow or not interested in upgrading. Once a Garmin hits it's hardware limit on upgrades, you buy another one for ~$200. GM should make the Nav a plug in hardware upgradeable but that is an impossible paradim shift in mentality for GM.

If the C7 did not have the HUD and Nav integrated, I would not get the Nav unless I wanted the LT3 trim level that includes the Nav.
