Do I have to open the rear end and remove C clip or pin to pull out the rear axles?

Mikes correct.
But if your car has a rear end that you can open from the rear it is not original to a 1962 Corvette and it might have clips on the axles.
The 62 rear end pumpkin (center section, etc) can not be opened with the axles in. The 4 bolts holding the axle retainer (on each side) need to be removed to pull the axles.

You can borrow the slide hammer from Auto Zone

Make sure you borrow one with the 3 bolt axle puller attachment.
