F41 HD 7 leaf spring restoration

A few weeks back was doing a restoration on a customers 9 leaf standard spring and reported finding some embossed letters 'GMU' on the sides of 2 to 3 leaves. I now have another customers 7 leaf F41 spring and doing a resto on it. Today I observed finding different letters 'GLS' embossed on the sides of 3 to 4 leaves. Interesting.......different manufacturer?

Another observation was there was no leaf liner between leaves 6 and 7 which seems a littel odd......would this be correct?? Would think there would liners between all 7 leaves. Believe the spring to be totally original and from a '67.

One more thing...........the attaching center bolt with a 'W' head marking was the same length as the standard 9 leaf spring.

The 3 alpha character embossings represent the supplier of the steel stock. "GLS"= Great Lakes Steel. I've forgotten what manufacturer that "GMU" represents.

Joe........what about the lack of spring liner between leaves 6 and 7? Is this typical of a HD spring.

My recollection is that's how they were but I'm not 100% sure.

In my experience that is how early C3s (1968-1972) are.
