68 doors on a 69 car.

Still shopping, today I am checking out what is said to be a original 427 t top. The owner has indicated the car is a 69 with a 69 vin, however it has 68 door lock and 68 back up light. Is this possible. I do not know the vin yet, although it would have to be early.thanks cal

I am not a C3 expert but to me these would be red flags. Make sure it is no a '68 that was retagged as a '69, or a wrecked '69 pieced back together with a '68

I will take my 68 - 69 tech manual and see if I can figure it out. He is third owner and claims it is solid, no original motor of course. Also can I tell if a car was originally a 4 speed? Cal

VIN would have to be way earlier than anything we have ever seen on the field. I would check the VIN on the frame, I am suspicious

Well the car wasn't bad, it was an original 69 390 427 car, except from in from of the doors back was a 68 frame and body, and it came with a nice welding job on the frame, Thanks for helping call this Frankenstein. Cal

Calvin automatic cars came with bolted in/removable cross member for the transmission, manual transmission cross members were welded and not removable.

Cal, I see these from time to time. I once went to look at a wrecked 71 and big block 72 in a package deal. The 71 was a pretzle. The "big block" 72 had no motor and 73 front end on it. Looked like the guy had four halves instead of two cars. I walked away.
