I did a lot of research before I decided to purchase a set of American Torq Thrust D Wheels and radial tires to run for a while on my '67. I found a lot of information that was a bit confusing and old, so I thought that I would share my findings for anyone considering the same set up.
As you know, the choices of 15 inch radial tires are just not what they used to be. I wanted a tire that had a "nice" looking sidewall and ended up choosing the BF Goodrich Advantage TA. The size is 215/70 x 15. That size is certainly pretty big but is close to the diameter of the reproduction 7.75 x 15 tires. I chose it over a 205/75 x 15 just due to the fact that I liked this particular tire better than the others.
The wheels are American Racing Torq Thrust D Wheels in the 15 x 6 size (part number VN1055661). The car is stock ride height (327/300 - no AC), and there are no issues with clearance.
I should also mention that I chose to paint the "spokes" a darker charcoal/gray color. I don't care for the original light gray color.
I apologize for the pictures...they were taken quickly in "not the best" light.
