    90 Horn Problem

    Horn system on my 90 coupe stopped working from the buttons. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM AS jAMES White suggested in his post on the 1990 ZR-1 time capsule? I've already had the other usual problems with the car. NOTE, horns work with 12 vdc applied. thanks Ed Bauscher

    Ed cars with Air bags on the steering wheel do have clock spring problems sometimes. I don't have a wiring Dia.handy, generally at the base of the column the turn signal switch harness is located there, You'll need A Volt/ohm meter. find the correct colored wire and use the ohm meter to check for flow when hitting the horn button. sometimes if you take a 12volt test lamp and just touch each wire you'll come to the wire that operates the horn relay. and when you touch that wire the test lamp will act as a ground and the horn will beep.

      Thanks Edward for the heads-up on the clock spring, I've had similar issues with other cars. 90 only has 44k miles but its still 23 years old. sincerely, Ed Bauscher
