    Re: 1970 L46 pad stamp

Bill, I have asked the owner for photos of the pad. His response was that he was going to call me about a document from an Al Greening. Who is that?

Al is a well known member with quite a bit of knowledge of the cars. He is a good resource.

I spoke with the owner by telephone this afternoon and he says that he has a document authenticating the CTJ and signed by Al Greening. Al referred to it as "reverse aberration". The owner says he will provide a photo of the pad stamp which I will share here after I get it. I am hoping he sends a copy of that document, too. He says the tachometer redlines at 6000 RPM.

I think I would have to personally contact Mr. Greenning for an explanation of "reverse aberration". Also, check the casting #s and date codes to see if they line up. I guess they would if it were just a base engine car, so no help there. Chip.

Seems that the previous owner must have had some qualms about the pad also. It will be interesting to see the pic.

Does the A/C work? Will it keep the car cool?

I'd sure like to know more about a "reverse aberration also, as well as a picture of the stamp in question, after seeing the stamp holder.

Here's what I would consider a 'reverse aberration'. Maybe it's actually a CTU?

I would bet the farm if Al Grenning signed off on it, he also checked all casting dates/numbers and had other examples to compare, as they probably stamped more than one before the mistake was discovered...IMHO

Question: Do the 1970 350/350s have molded plastic radiator shrouds? If so is it the same as the LS-5 shrouds?

I have yet to receive photos of the engine pad with the "reverse aberration" of the 'J' in CTJ. But, the owner says he has an original authentic signed document from Al Greening as well as documentation from previous owners that the car is a 350/350. The owner was once an NCRS member and despite my urging that he re-join he chooses to languish on the sidelines.

Plastic, Different # '109. +lower extension. May be a dumb Q, but tank sheet?

Small and big block shrouds are not the same because there is a 2-inch difference in the width of the radiators. The core support is different also for the same reason.

He has the tank sheet but according to him it is illegible from being in storage for over 20 years. I suggested he look in other areas of the car where the build sheets have been known to have been discovered. The photos he sent me of the car after the storage or garage was opened was that it was a barn find. Layers of silt and leaves so thick I couldn't tell the color of the car. But oddly no rodent damage.
